On May 29th, 2024, the European Association of Aerial Surveying Industries (EAASI) hosted an insightful webinar to explore diverse career opportunities in the aerial surveying industry.

The session, moderated by Simon Musäus, EAASI Students Committee Leader, featured an impressive lineup of speakers from various professional backgrounds.

Nejc Dougan, Founder and CTO of Flai, shared his journey in geospatial processing, emphasizing the role of AI in lidar point cloud classifications. With an MS in geodesy and geomatics from the University of Ljubljana, Dougan's career exemplifies the fusion of traditional surveying skills with modern technological innovations.


Alice Hilton, Product Specialist at Bluesky International, discussed her work on the National Tree Map and the National Hedgerow Map. Hilton, who holds a BSc with applied GIS from the University of Exeter, highlighted the importance of environmental mapping in addressing climate change.


Dr. Mohsen Miri, Director of Product Management at Phase One, brought his expertise in computer vision and object-recognition algorithms. With a doctorate from Freie Universität Berlin, Dr. Miri underscored the significance of integrating advanced image processing techniques in photogrammetry.


Johann Sidial, Team Leader of Photogrammetry at BSF Swissphoto, shared insights from his extensive experience in geoinformatics and GIS. Sidial, who has worked in academia and government, emphasized the critical role of photogrammetry in large-scale projects and spatial analysis.


After the presentations, a panel discussion allowed the speakers to elaborate further on the current industry trends, highlighting today's most exciting developments in aerial surveying.
