The European Association of Aerial Surveying Industries (EAASI) is thrilled to introduce our new Young Ambassador, Charlène Negrello, a project manager at Sixense Helimap.
Charlène Negrello
Project Manager at Sixense Helimap
Charlène Negrello’s journey in the field of geomatics began with her studies in Civil Engineering in France. Her passion for the field grew during a year abroad in Calgary, Canada, where she transitioned to Geomatics Engineering. Returning to France, she continued her education at the Land Surveyor School (École Supérieure d'Ingénieurs Géomètres et Topographes (ESGT), seizing every opportunity to gain international experience. Charlène conducted topographic fieldwork in Cameroon, spent a semester in Belgium, and realized her desire for a career that offered both technical challenges and the chance to work abroad.
Charlène joined Helimap System (now Sixense Helimap) six years ago, finding the perfect fit for her skills and interests. Her role involves a mix of office work, including preparation, calculations, and deliveries, and fieldwork for data acquisition. She has worked on diverse projects across several countries and continents, including Switzerland, France, Germany, Spain, Canada, Mexico, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, French Polynesia, Reunion, Senegal, and Mozambique.
Charlène shares, “What I love most about my job is the variety it offers. I get to work on different types of projects in various locations, which keeps things exciting. The opportunity to fly in helicopters for data acquisition was something I had never imagined before joining Helimap. LiDAR is not really taught in school and photogrammetry is usually very theoretical, so the practical experience I’ve gained has been invaluable. It’s been an incredible journey.”
As a Young Ambassador, Charlène will engage with future professionals at industry events, participate in video interviews, and visit schools to inspire a passion for STEM, particularly among young women.
EAASI Young Ambassador Program
The program aims to showcase the diverse and dynamic careers within the aerial surveying industry while empowering young professionals to become ambassadors for their field. Selected from talented individuals working within EAASI member companies, our Young Ambassadors will play a vital role in inspiring and guiding future professionals in the industry. Together with Charlène, Alice Hilton from Bluesky International and Johann Sidial from BSF Swissphoto, exemplify the variety of roles and backgrounds found in modern geospatial careers
EAASI member companies are encouraged to suggest candidates to become future Young Ambassadors.
