EAASI company: Vexcel Imaging
Category: Disaster Prevention
Project overview
Vexcel Imaging collects high-resolution aerial imagery in 30+ countries using its UltraCam sensors, pairs it with AI analytics, and uncovers key property information in wildfire-prone areas, like California.
Multiple pieces of data are delivered, including valuable defensible space information that determines how safe and protected a property is from fire danger. Defensible space in California is broken up into four buffer zones that lead out from a property in 5, 30, 100, and 200-foot increments.
Competitive Advantage of Crewed Aerial Surveying
Using crewed aircraft equipped with UltraCam sensors, Vexcel achieves large-scale, high-resolution data collection rapidly, providing comprehensive property-level risk assessments. Unlike satellite or UAV options, this approach offers efficient, detailed coverage crucial for timely decision-making.
Results and Impact
The data enables a clear property risk assessment, empowering homeowners and insurers to take informed steps in wildfire mitigation. It supports proactive measures that can help prevent fire damage, improve insurance evaluations, and safeguard communities through strategic risk reduction.
Using this analysis, homeowners and insurers can work together to create a detailed property risk assessment on where overgrowth of trees or proximity of buildings in each zone could lead to wildfire damage or danger to a property or home.
